The value of a logo

Logo design

Nike. Apple. General Electric. AT and T. Most likely, these company names are almost inseparable from their logo design. A truly well designed and meaningful business logo is one of the most powerful marketing tools a company can have. To have any image represent the essence of a company: its beliefs, values, products or services and reputation is nothing short of a tall order. This is why logo design is such an important part of a business plan.

A great company logo will last for years needing only moderate design tweaks throughout the history of your business. Sometimes logo design incorporates or is comprised mainly of your company name. A good example of a word based logo design is Coca Cola. The sprawling script in red and white is easy to distinguish with any retail setting. Depending on your business and its tone, industry, etc a talented logo designer will be able to create design concepts either image or word based, or a combination of both. Nike, for example, has the recognizable Swoosh symbol that is often used on its on, but is sometimes supplemented with the Nike corporation name.

The design of your company logo can propel your branding and marketing efforts. A snappy logo will add visual interest to your company correspondence and be affixed on any official company documents. Reinforcing the logo design both internally and to the public will begin the process to secure wide range brand recognition. We as people, are visual beings. We remember images, photographs and art much easier than the written word. This is why it is imperative that companies invest time and resources into developing a strong logo for their business. Board members and employees can even be involved. It is best to test out your potential logo designs and see which logos have the most positive response. You and your designer or agency can do these together or you can run one with your staff. Who better to weigh in on a symbol for a company than its employees?

Try not to think of logo design as only marketing. It is so much more.
