3 Moving Tips That Will Make Things Way Less Stressful

Professional movers

Moving is stressful. There’s no doubt about that. Research shows that nearly one in four people believe moving house and home to be the most stressful experience one can go through, in fact.

If you’re planning to move soon, do yourself a favor, and take the necessary steps to make your move less stressful. Here are just a few moving tips to help.

Hire Professional Movers.

One of the best ways to make your move less stressful is to look into full service moving solutions. They’ll be able to load all of your belongings — including your furniture — onto the truck in the safest, most space-efficient way possible. That’s literally and figuratively a lot of heavy moving you’ll no longer have to worry about. Though you may want to keep the costs to a minimum, moving services are well worth the investment.

Pack in Stages Leading Up to Your Move.

Another great way to make moving less stressful is to start packing and start doing so soon. It’s best to do it in stages. Pack things in storage spaces like closets, the attic, and the basement first, as those are less likely to be needed in the days leading up to the move. Then, pack the next least important things, and so on and so forth. There are things you’re not going to want to pack up until the night before the move, such as phone chargers and toiletries. These can go in a special, clear bin that can be easily identified on the day of the move so they can be unloaded and unpacked first.

Plan, Plan, Plan.

Granted, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry, but being on top of your move is the best way to manage the stress that comes with it. Take pictures of the back of your computer and TV so that you can remember how they’re set up. Color code and thoroughly label your boxes so nothing gets misplaced. Do whatever it takes to make sure things go as smoothly as possible.
