Finding a Way to Keep Order Is Important


In an attempt to open campuses and keep students in real classrooms for as long as possible, many colleges across the nation are scheduling Zoom meetings and working to inform both students and families of the new guidelines. First and foremost, many campuses are announcing that everyone will wear a mask in class and the professors will refuse admittance to any students without mask. In addition, many campuses have a plan to accommodate as number of Covid-19 positive students I quarantine dorms and suites. With the use of specific suites that will be used for these quarantine purposes, it is important to note that there will be enhanced cleaning protocols in place throughout all of these campuses.

New Protocols for College Campuses and Schools Across the Nation

And while the average student moving to campus already has a long list of items they will bring, there are some additional provisions that some schools are requesting. For example, some colleges are asking all students to bring their own digital thermometer to school, and many are asking for students to also bring a lawn chair or blanket for outdoor classes.
Parents Are Asked to Help

As school districts around the nation prepare to help their children return to school in the fall, many teachers are asking for some help. Specifically, teachers who are returning to school district classrooms that will require masks, teachers are asking parents to start now having children get used to wearing a mask at home, weeks before they return to school this fall.

Parents have taught their children how to wear their clothing correctly, including socks and shoes, and for the most part these skills become a non issue. Just as parents taught children how to wear these other items, teachers are now asking parents to help children practice wearing a mask. Practicing mask wearing while in public and in the house for extended periods of time is good practice for what will likely be asked of children once school starts. Waiting until the first day of school to have kids wear a mask is a set up for disaster. Children of all age deserve the opportunity to practice a skill that will likely be a part of a safer opening to schools in the fall.

As teachers, these educators already have enough on their plates this year returning to buildings. The way they have to run their classrooms will all be different this year. For many, it will feel like teaching for the first year all over again. Everyone, including medical doctors and counselors are asking parents to help teachers out and take some time to support wearing masks and practicing this ahead of time.
