Load cells matter in so many capacities, as too do all of the accessories that they come with and that can be used along side them. The torque wrench is just one of them, and the torque wrench plays a good many important roles and the torque wrench is certainly not something that can be overlooked, as the use of the typical torque wrench and the use of the typical load cell often go hand in hand. But, of course, as important as this torque wrench is and as all varieties of the torque wrench are, the torque wrench is far from the only important accessory used with load cells. In addition to the torque wrench, everything from the torque equation to strain gaging services must come into play when a load cell is used.

And, of course, using the right kind of load cell is something that will also end up mattering quite tremendously at the end of the day. Ultimately, this is a bigger decision than many people realize, as there are actually five distinct types of load cells that are currently used with regularity throughout many industries and on a global scale. For instance, the strain gauge load cell is quite popular, as too are hydraulic load cells. In addition to these popular varieties we have diaphragm load cells, spool type load cells and, last but certainly not least, ring type load cells. Each and every one of these load cells has a specific and important role to play when it comes to serving as a measurement device, often with the aid of a torque wrench or other such accessory.

It is the strain gauge load cell type that is by and large the most widely used, as this type of technology has been in place for a considerable amount of time. In fact, such load cells using such technology have actually been around for at least 40 years, if not even longer than that. Though they have certainly become more advanced and easy to use – as well as more accurate – with the passing of time, strain gauge load cells still play a hugely important role in the overall use of load cells as we know it.

This does not, however, mean that strain gauge load cells should be the type of load cell used for every situation in which a load cell is required. In fact, this is far from the case, for why would there be so many other types of load cells if such a statement were true? And hydraulic load cells also play a hugely important role. This is due to the fact that hydraulic load cells are a type of load cell capable of withstanding extreme temperatures – in particular, extremely cold temperatures. After all, hydraulic load cells can operate at temperatures that dip as low as -76 degrees Fahrenheit – and that’s without any problems. Simply put, this is something that many of the other types of load cells currently available and regularly in use are simply not typically capable of handling without serious detriment and questionable results, at the very least. Other load cells, however, can even dip down to temperatures exceeding -400 degrees Fahrenheit – as well a withstanding temps that reach to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, which is certainly an incredible threshold to be able to operate within, to say the very least. Of course, it all simply depends on the type of load cell that you are looking to use.

Ultimately, there are so many reasons that load cells are important in the world as we know it, along with everything that goes with them (such as that of the typical torque wrench, to name one singular example). Load cells come in more varieties than many people realize, making them particularly important to understand well before putting into use. Taking time to study the typical load cell is something that is more than likely to pay off for people who work with such tools and machines, no matter what industry or what line of work this load cell might be being used in in the end.
