Toronto video promotion

As someone in charge of a brand, you have likely heard time and time again about the reasons why you should be creating marketing videos — so we won’t bore you with that.

It’s easy to wonder if video marketing content is truly as effective as experts say it is — don’t most people skip past video ads on YouTube, anyway?

The best way to know how effective video marketing can be is to look at some of its most popular, successful examples. Here’s a list of three of the web’s most popular viral videos that actually turned out to be video marketing content from the world’s top brands:

GoPro: Fireman Saves Kitten

Uploaded to YouTube on Sept. 25, 2013, “Fireman Saves Kitten” is a great example of video marketing effectiveness based on an emotional appeal to the viewer. The video captures a team of real-life firemen going into a burning building to find a kitten, knocked unconscious due to oxygen loss. The firemen then bring the kitten outside, give it an oxygen mask, and clean it off with water — before long, the kitten wakes up with an appreciative meow. The entire video is filmed with a GoPro camera, showing the kinds of moments that can be captured with one of these cameras.

Dollar Shave Club: Our Blades Are F***ing Great

Throughout the history of marketing videos, it’s become clear that marketing videos will garner more views if they make the viewer laugh. An example of this is Dollar Shave Club, an online shaving razor subscription company, and its video “Our Blades Are F***ing Great.” The video itself is actually just an introduction to what the company is about — but the sheer ridiculous bravado shown in the video grabs the user’s attention and makes them laugh.

Will it Blend?

Sometimes, it can be tough to come up with ideas for creatively marketing a product and making it seem fresh and exciting. This was especially true for blender maker Blendtec — who would watch marketing videos about a blender? Yet with Blendtec’s “Will it Blend?” series, the company made blenders un-boring by testing everyday objects’ blend-ability in their blenders. They even try to blend an iPad in one video!
